Some players wish to just play and enjoy the game regardless of grade, wins/ losses etc., whilst others strive to play in the top divisions and play their best. The policy below hopes to accommodate both streams.
In order to maintain a high level of competition at the "A" grade level, the club has decided that if there are enough players to create two teams, then player grading will occur from Under 12’s onwards.
Player grading will occur from under 12’s and up when there are enough players to create two or more teams at the same age level. Players will be graded in order to field a competitive team in the A division. From Under 12’s, FFV places the top 1 to 2 teams per division at the end of the year into the next higher division for the following year. Teams can then move up a division if they place first and likewise move down a division if they are placed last.
Players will be graded in order to be placed in A, B or C teams, depending on numbers.
Whereever possible the players will train by age groups and grading will be completed at least 28 days prior to the start of the first round. Grading will take place over three training sessions and players must attend at least two of those sessions. Where possible, small-sided grading games will also be used to assist in grading players into an appropriate division.
The Grading Panel will be made up of:
1. Coaches for the age group
2. Junior Director of Coaching
3. Senior Director of Coaching
In the event of any disagreement, the Director of Coaching's decision is final.
In circumstances where there are not enough players to make up two full teams of 15 players, players may be transferred between the two teams. This encourages players to improve their skills to play up or gives the opportunity for other players to get more match play and hopefully improve their skills by playing down. Players may elect to play and stay in the lower graded team if they prefer not to move.
The basis of selection of movement between two or more teams at the same age group will be decided on player performance, injuries, availability, team mixture, and adherence to FFV regulations. Once again the players will be determined by;
1. Coaches for the age group
2. Junior Director of Coaching
3. Senior Director of Coaching
In the event of any disagreement, the Director of Coaching's decision is final.
Teams shall not exceed 15 players per side. In the case of an excess number of players for any age group, the club shall endeavor to sufficiently increase player numbers to create a second team. All potential players/parents should be made aware that the team will be culled to 15 and encouraged to recruit new players. If the creation of a second team is not viable then players will be subject to the grading system.
