Common Questions

FEES AND POLICIES

Registration fees are set to cover costs. These include FFV registration fees and insurance, uniforms, payment of some senior coaches, payments to match referees, playing equipment, ground and club maintenance, and amenities.

We have the privilege of sponsorship from a number of local businesses, which assists with additional expenses. We try and keep registration fees to a minimum, without compromising the viability of the club. We welcome sponsorship offers, both monetary and in kind, from members and their contacts.

All players must be financial before they can play. The Club has a strict ‘No Pay No Play’ policy. All Players must be registered before they can play.

How do I Pay?

We accept various methods of payment.

  • Cash
  • Credit Card / EFTPOS
  • Cheque (made payable to Casey Comets Football Club)
  • Bank Transfer
  • Online Credit Card/PayPal (coming soon)

Registration Fees

Registration Fees for each age group for this year can be found on the official registration form.

What do my fees cover?

Your player registration fee goes toward the payment of many different items. Casey Comets is a not-for-profit organization mainly run by volunteers - we have a very small number of paid positions working at the club, namely Senior coaches and a few administrative roles such as bookkeeping and accounting.

All the committee, team managers and the majority of coaches give their time for free. Many spend in excess of 20 hours a week working for the club.

The largest cost to the club is what we pay Football Federation of Victoria. We have to pay for team registration, player registration and match fees, along with referee fees, administration costs and more. Unlike AFL and Cricket, soccer in Australia is not subsidized by Football Australia or the FFV. This makes our costs greatly more than AFL and Cricket, hence soccer registration fees will always be far greater.

Your fees go towards the following:
  • Casey Comets Football Club player membership
  • One match per week
  • Coaching (one or two sessions a week)
  • Football Federation Victoria player registration fees
  • FFV Team entry fees
  • FFV Affiliation fees
  • Offical referee match-day payments
  • Floodighting maintenance and power
  • Presentation trophies
  • Match and training equipment
  • Line marking and grounds maintenance
  • Rental/Maintenance of clubrooms
  • Administration and Utilities
  • Player insurance
  • Socks for each player
  • Shorts for each player
  • Shirt (strip) for each player
  • Away strips
  • Match balls
  • Match record books
  • Training equipment
  • Practice matches as arranged
  • FFV Administration fees
  • FFV Transfer fees
  • Cleaning
  • Purchase of goals, nets, corner flags, poles, etc.
  • Rubbish removal costs
  • Security
  • Training ball at end of season

If you have difficulty with payment please contact the Junior President to discuss payment options.

What is included in my Registration?

All registered junior players will receive a Casey Comets playing top (called a "strip"), as well as playing shorts and socks (for the player to keep). Your registration fee also ensures you have insurance cover for training and match days. For the Under 15 age group, the total registration fee equates to approximately $5.50 per session (two training nights and one game day). Overall, it is pretty good value for what you get.

Cancellation of Membership and Refunds

There will be no refund of registration fees if a member decides to leave of their own accord. The club still incurs costs for their strips, insurance, team registration and player registration.

UNIFORMS

Our team colours are blue and yellow. The club purchase all team uniforms on behalf of each player. The cost of this is included in your registration fees.

Uniforms will be handed out prior to the first round, depending on availability by our supplies to procure and print all uniforms with the appropriate numbers and logos. Strips must be numbered such that there are no duplicate numbers in any team so the final "tally" will be done once the majority of registrations have been processed.

The FFV also requires all junior players to wear official FFV socks and shorts to all matches. The club provides socks and uniform blue shorts to each registered player, which becomes the property of the player.

Please note that no jewellery is to be worn at the game or to training sessions.

For Training

For training purposes, t-shirts and shorts are acceptable. You will need to purchase soccer boots and shinpads which must also be worn to training. Soccer boots can be purchased anywhere from Big W, K-Mart, Payless Shoes, etc. or from retail sports stores. They range greatly in price. For growing feet we recommend that you do not need to spend a lot on soccer boots that the child will probably be wearing for approximately 2 hours a week. Depending on your child’s growth, you may need to upsize their boots during the season.

Additional Apparel

Casey Comets jackets, warm-up pants and training tops can be purchased from the club or purchased online, at reasonable prices. Download our order form for more details.

When are games played?

With a vast range of teams and age groups, Casey Comets has home and away games played on both Saturdays and Sundays with most SSF games being played on Saturday mornings and Juniors playing on Sundays. Once you have been allocated to a team, you will be able to view and download the season fixture detailing dates, times and venues for your matches.

The official playing season begins in April and continues through to the end of August. Training will commence in March with some teams having opportunities for 'friendlies' or practice matches with other clubs. Grading sessions will be held early in the year for most age groups.

At what age can my child play?

Casey Comets Football Club has teams starting from the U6&7 age group, right through to U18s and Seniors. For the younger players, we recommend that children be of school age in the year they wish to join (turning 5 by April 30).
