PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS
Small-Sided Football (SSF) is designed to encourage development in junior players with an emphasis on fun and not on the score! Casey Comets fields SSF teams in all age groups from U6 through to U11.
Our entire club runs on the much-welcomed support of our parents and volunteers and if you are interested in coaching, becoming an assistant coach, game leader or instructing referee, please contact our Junior Secretary to discuss. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and get involved. We will be providing a FREE Grass Roots Coaching certificate for anyone interested in assisting.
(for boys and girls born in 2005 or earlier)
Our most junior players train and play on Saturday mornings or afternoons, depending on the availability of coaches, with the possibility of incorporating mid-week training as well. The entire session, including warm-up, training, and a short game should last around 90 minutes - 2 hours. As game scheduling is flexible, we can field an unlimited number of Under 7's as long as we have sufficient coaches and team managers for each group.
The program is primarily focused on enjoyment and skill development. The group will have a coach co-ordinator who will be responsible for organising and overseeing each session.
(for boys and girls born in 2003 or 2004)
Casey Comets usually fields three or four Under 9 teams each year. This age group plays on Saturday mornings in a 7-a-side game (2 x 20 minutes halves). Each team consists of approximately 9-10 players depending on numbers and allowing for substitutes and "rest-breaks".
The competition is a 2 division program, for both Joeys and Kangaroos, which will be based on both age and ability. The U9 players can expect training at least once per week. U9 teams will play a full competition fixture with both Home and Away games.
(for boys and girls born in 2001 and 2002)
The Under 10 program is a two-division league, with teams in either Joeys or Kangaroos. The Under 11 comprises three divisions - Joeys, Wallabies and Kangaroos. The placement of players and teams will depend on the make-up of the teams and numbers as we near the start of the season, taking into account player skill leves and experience.
In general, Under 11's play Sunday mornings between 9am and 10am and Under 10's play Saturday mornings. This is subject to change depending on final league structures released by FFV in around March.
Both age groups play 9v9 in a game format of 2 x 25 minutes halves and will have a fixtured Home and Away season. All U10/U11 teams can expect to train twice per week.
